I have been playing Far Cry for years, and no other series makes me obsess over its antagonists quite like this one. The heroes are fine, but the villains define my memories. As of 2026, with rumors about Far Cry 7 still swirling, I keep wondering which old faces might come back to trouble me all over again.

Willis Huntley: The Smiling Bureaucrat

I know Willis Huntley was never the main threat, but that is exactly why he scares me. He first appeared as a helpful CIA contact in Far Cry 3, then kept coming back. His patriotism always feels like an excuse for cruelty. In Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5 he did genuinely awful things while smiling. He was even referenced in Far Cry 6, which means the franchise has not forgotten him. If Far Cry 7 inserts him as a secondary antagonist, I would not be surprised at all. He is the kind of person who believes he is the hero, and that makes him dangerous.

Pagan Min: The Elegant Monster

Pagan Min is probably my favorite villain in the franchise, and I am still not convinced he is dead. Depending on the ending I chose in Far Cry 4, he either went on vacation or died. The Far Cry 6 DLC made things even less clear. He mentions being on holiday or dead in a voice note, and there is a nuke beneath his palace. That detail could connect his story directly to the events of Far Cry 5. I want him back, not just as a memory, but as the stylish and terrifying ruler I remember.

Longinus: The Warlord Searching for Peace

Longinus felt like a real person trying to outrun his past. He admitted being a former warlord, nearly died in a civil war, got baptized, and then traveled with religious mercenaries. When I last saw him in Far Cry 4, he was chasing blood diamonds. In Far Cry 6, Sean McKay mentioned him if I let Sean live, saying Longinus had left the business. That sounds peaceful, but it also feels like a setup. A quieter, older Longinus returning could be a powerful way to show how much the world has changed.

Vaas Montenegro: The Unpredictable Icon

Vaas defined insanity long before I ever picked up Far Cry 3. The game made me believe I killed him during a dreamlike final fight, but the developers later hinted that Jason may have blacked out. The Far Cry 6 DLC explored his mind in a fascinating way. That could have been a farewell, but I really hope it was preparation. Vaas is too magnetic to leave in the past. His return would instantly raise the stakes.

Joseph Seed: The Quiet Prophet

Joseph Seed predicted the collapse, and he was right. In Far Cry 5, I fought him. In Far Cry New Dawn, I met a much older and quieter version of him. If I spared him, he later disappeared from his compound. That leaves a huge door open. A redeemed Joseph, or a Joseph who falls back into old patterns, could anchor a future story. I do not know which version would be more unsettling.

The Jackal: The Ghost of Far Cry 2

The Jackal from Far Cry 2 is different. He is not a screaming villain. He is an arms dealer who plays every side. He nearly kills me multiple times during the story. At the end, I completed a task and neither of us survived, but his body was never found. That single sentence has lived in my head for years. Maybe the Jackal could return as an unassuming older man, still pulling strings across another region.
